Karen H. Kim, Founding Member

Ms. Kim's experience includes more than 20 years of practice, including over a decade as in-house counsel or documentation manager at global financial firms, giving her a perspective that is cost-sensitive and operationally practical.

 

Ms. Kim has substantial experience in the negotiation of over-the-counter derivatives and related credit and collateral terms in master documentation, including ISDA Master Agreements, Credit Support Annexes, triparty segregated collateral agreements, repo agreements, equity and rates derivatives structured products and master confirmations for equity, fixed income and FX products.

 

She is an active commercial mediator who serves on a number of rosters for alternative dispute resolution, including for the Commercial Division of the New York State Supreme Court in New York and Westchester Counties.  She is a FINRA arbitrator and a mediator for the MediateArt program of Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts.

 

Prior to establishing the Firm, Ms. Kim was a Senior Counterparty Relations Attorney at the investment manager Bridgewater Associates, LP.  Before her work at Bridgewater, Ms. Kim was a Managing Director and Associate General Counsel at RBS Greenwich Capital (now part of NatWest Markets) and also held positions as a Director and Counsel at Credit Suisse and as a Vice President and Documentation Manager in the Institutional Equities Division of Morgan Stanley.

 

Ms. Kim is licensed to practice law in New York and Connecticut, and she is a CFA charterholder.  She received her undergraduate degree magna cum laude in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University, and her law degree cum laude from Harvard Law School.  Earlier in her career, Ms. Kim served as a law clerk to the Honorable Dennis Jacobs of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and was an associate at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP.
